Being a Republican in 2009….
It’s really hard. Honestly, I now find myself on the fence on the issue. I absolutey abhor the old White Klansmen/women who have corrupted and retarded the GOP….such as Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove, Sarah Palin, Darth Vader Cheney, Eric Cantor, Rush LimpDick, and a cast of 10,000 other maniacs. Joe the Plumber? Fuck him. He’s not reality. Reality is progressives, willing to compromise, and willing to include in the GOP, not exclude. People like Colin Powell, Arnold Scwharzenegger, Micheal Steele, Gov. Charlie Crist, Gov. Pawlenty…..and strangely enough, George W. Bush. Yup, I said it….our ex-President, who has now defered to President Obama so gracefully, so far as to even say “President Obama deserves my silence”. That is supremely respectful, and I appreciate it. Too bad Dick Cheney never got the memo. So….scum-sucking barnacles like Sean Hannity, Dick Morris, Alan Keyes and Newt Gingrich have decided to push the NEOCON agenda, and pretend that issues such as gun rights, abortion, and Jesus have something to do with being a Republican. I disagree. Those are personal issues for me, and have nothing to do with my core Republican values. I can’t stand Sarah Palin…not because she is a woman, but because she is a Jesus freak. I’m not a Christian, and to my knowledge, this is not a “Christian Nation”…an excellent statement by President Obama. And she is a climate change denier, even as she watches the cartography of her very State morph before her own eyes. Delusion much, Sister Sarah?
And Newt, you ugly, malformed, racist spotmonkey…….must everything concerning Obama be “NO!”? Must you, Karl Rove, Glenn Beck, and Mr. Boener twist every fucking thing around that our President does? Damn….how can I support that? How can I support what now, even Mancow says, is torture? How…and still call myself an American? A Veteran? A Patriot? War for war’s sake? No thank you….I think I’ll follow the doctrine of Sec. Def. Gates, Gen. Petraeus, and Adm. Mullen….no more GITMO, no more Abu Ghraib, no more making America the most hated Nation on Earth.
So, in a nutshell….I voted for GW Bush. I voted for Barack Obama. And if he continues on the path he is on now, he’ll have my vote again in 2012. The only tough choice I could conceivably see in that respect is if by some miracle, Gen. Powell decided to run on the GOP platform…then, well, I really don’t know. But otherwise….there it is.
