Will We Never Learn to Conserve?
submitted 7-01-07, by GN

Our government and corporate business leaders are selling my children's future for a few conveniences today. Why can't we elect leaders who really care about preserving our resources? There are people everywhere who want to do what is necessary to extend our time on this planet. Why is not even one of them in a position of major influence? Does every person immediately lose their ability to care as soon as they become rich or powerful?

We know that numerous necessary resources are nearly exhausted. The enormous pressure of billions of humans is overwhelming our supplies of water, food, oil, and clean air. Why won't someone stop it?!

This dilemma has been at the forefront of political debate for decades. Wise forecasters told us years ago about global warming. How do we finally do something about these crises?

I know that hundreds of conservation organizations exist. But, these organizations have accomplished virtually nothing. All the little people, who make up all these conservation groups, add up to nothing.

We need a leader. We need a person or persons of great influence and power. We need a champion.

Nothing significant has happened in these past decades and I predict that nothing good will happen in the future unless we find a champion who has enough power, status, and money to overcome the terrible inertia of the established powers that be.

Our champion will not arise out of a political party. He will not come up through the usual power structures of the corporate world. In order to be uncorrupted, this champion has to develop in a separate vein.

An improbable success story reminiscent of Bill Gates' meteoric rise will give birth to a unique individual who sees the world as a living entity and who accumulates the necessary money and influence to be able to save this world from an untimely death.

I hope and pray that this person arrives before it is too late.
